FOREWORD
On behalf of the World Poetry Peace Poetathon and all the other
World Poetry venues, we would like to congratulate the selected
poets and editors of "The Intercontinental Anthology of Poetry on
Universal Love and Peace" which contains poetry from 7
continents and more than 100 poets, for bringing together our
world family to inspire, explore and transform.
Intercontinental Anthology of Poetry on Universal Peace and Love
is an anthology of poems edited by 8 scholars selected from all the
continents - except the Managing Editor, Mutiu Olawuyi, who sees
himself as a universal poet - a poet without borders. The
founder/Managing Editor sees this as a World Poetry Peace
Poetathon project.
The esteemed editors from 7 continents; Dr. Stephen Billy Olajide
– Africa, Prof. Yayati Madan G Gandhi – Asia, (Editor-in-Chief),
Prof. Chryssa Velissariou – Europe, Dr. Kirsten Hemmy - South
America, Dr. Lucette Bailliet – Australia, Kathy Figueroa - North
America. Mario Meléndez - Antarctica and above all Mutiu Olawuyi
, Initiator/Managing Editor are to be commended on their expertise
and collective beliefs that together we can make a better world.
We are honoured to have this book as part of the World Poetry
Canada International Peace Poetathon. When we began World
Poetry in the year 2002, the goal was to present venues that come
together in peace, love, and respect and hope. We also wanted to
give a voice to those voices needed to be heard.
We will be celebrating our Fourth World Poetry Canada
International Peace Festival in October. Peace is a learned skill
that needs to be focused on, learned and practised. The poets,
writers, musicians, dancers and artists of the world can make a
difference. We are a world family and can use our combined and
creative powers to build changes for peace.
Neuroscience research has shown that nothing is more powerful
than thought waves. They can go through solid metal, wood and
even cement. Like thought waves attract each other, positive or
(i)
negative. When poems are written such as those included in the
anthology, they project thought waves of peace and universal love.
We can imagine a steady stream of peace and love, positive
thought waves from hundreds of participants flowing around the
earth and the result of all the combined power of all those peace
poems focusing on peace, meditating on peace, drawings,
dances, writing for peace will be powerful. Words are created by
thoughts and when directed toward building peace they attract like
thoughts. Positive peace thoughts and love will hook up with others
creating a link that travels around the world.
A warm thank you to the poets who have shared their inspired work
and the Publishers Global Fraternity of Poets for collaborating in
this mutual dream project.
