The mind is a garden wherein grows

Our wit and wonder, thoughts which impose

Some soft as petals of the sweetest rose

Others sharp as thorns meant to expose

Sometimes we write for we have need

Upon the paper with pen we bleed

Every drop is fruit grown from the seed

Of that from which we can't recede

The blood that's bled is but our own

Though our crop relies not on pain alone

From all emotions the seeds are sown

Oft nurtured well until full grown

So from our joys and our throes

Come the words we're compelled compose

From our highest highs and lowest lows

Each line a part of soul disclose

Be it a blessing or be it curse

Tis what we do for better or worse

Sometimes verbose and sometimes terse

Our gift to you a bouquet of verse
